Seahawks, Sounders license plates on sale in Jan.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) - Three nonprofit groups will benefit from sales of new Seahawks and Sounders FC license plates that will be available starting in January.

The teams unveiled the preliminary license plate designs after Gov. Jay Inslee signed a bill Friday to make them available.

Net income from the Seahawks plate will got to InvestED, a Seattle-based nonprofit that partners with schools to help kids from low-income families pay for clothes, shoes, school activity cards, testing fees and other needs.

Most of the money from the Sounders plate will benefit Washington State Mentors, an Issaquah-based group that helps youth organizations across Washington. The Association of Washington Generals, a group that promotes civic and veteran causes, also will get some money from the Sounders plate.
