Pierce County Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer says police successfully located two cell phones stolen from the Edgewood home where James Sanders was killed after a group of attackers targeted the home based on an ad the family posted on craigslist.

Troyer told KIRO Radio's Ron & Don that the first clue from one of the phones came in the early morning hours the day after the attack.

"We knew that they'd taken cell phones out of the house and we got a hot ping on one about 4 o'clock in the morning and we went up Highway 167 took the 277th Street exit. We were hoping to find them in a fast food restaurant up there somewhere. But unfortunately, found the first phone in the bushes turned on. So they'd launched it out of a car window."

Troyer says activity reported from the second stolen phone led them to a home in Kent.

"Over the weekend we did a search warrant of house up on the west hill in Kent, another phone we believe was taken from the residence. We actually pulled four or five people out of a house, and thought we were going to get lucky and get everybody but it turns out somebody found the phone on the side of the road, stole the SIM card out of it, and was using it."

Troyer says the locations where the phones were found are helping them uncover the trail the attackers took after the incident.

"We are getting a path of travel through these people and we're continuing following up on leads from the public and that's how this case is going to be solved."

Authorities released sketches of two suspects on Friday. Troyer says the victim's wife and two sons helped authorities by giving their descriptions of the suspects.

"We brought them down, the boys and the widow. They worked with us all day long and we came up with some sketches of the female and possibly the other male."

The sketches released Friday show one man and one woman. The woman is pictured with two separate hairstyles, as Troyer says the widow and sons gave different accounts of the way the woman was wearing her hair.

Police have also released sketches of two suspects in a Lake Stevens home invasion robbery. Police are searching for a connection between the two break-ins.

The News Tribune says both cases involve four suspects - three men and a woman.

Troyer asks people who think they may recognize the suspects not to confront the individuals.

"Definitely don't contact these people, because all four of them are armed, all four of them have weapons."

Authorities ask that you call 1-800-222-TIPS if you have any information about this case or the supsects police are looking for.
