Pierce County Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer says Clabon Terrel Berniard, the man identified as the fourth suspect in the home invasion in Edgewood, has turned himself in.

Authorities released an image of Berniard on Wednesday.

Troyer says the three other suspects in the case were arrested on May 1st for unrelated charges during a traffic stop in Daly City, Calif. The San Mateo Sheriff's office said an officer pulled the three over for having a car with no license plate.

The female suspect, 21-year-old Amanda C. Knight of Sumner, bailed out before authorities learned of the alleged connection to the killing of James Sanders last Wednesday night.

Knight turned herself in to Sumner police. Knight, of Sumner, made her first court appearance Wednesday. She said little during the Pierce County Superior Court hearing, at one point it appeared she mouthed "I love you" to someone in the courtroom.

The two male suspects in custody, Kiyoshi Higashi, 22, and Joshua Reese, 20, are being held at San Mateo jail awaiting extradition to Washington state.

All four of the suspects have been charged with first- degree murder, robbery, and second-degree assault.

Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist said before deciding sentences, his office will look at the criminal histories of each suspect.

"These are young people, but they're still looking at extremely long sentences that will probably be pushing them up to an age where you may or may not live that long... Assuming that this goes down as charged, these will be very long sentences," he said.

Investigators say the attackers posed as people responding to an ad Sanders placed on Craigslist offering a diamond ring for sale. Once inside, the attackers tied up Sanders and his wife and began kicking and pistol-whipping them.

When Sanders' 14-year-old son tried to intervene, one of the suspects began pistol-whipping him. Sanders, 43, broke his hands free to defend his son, and he was shot three times.

Charging documents say that authorities received a tip that Higashi had called his father from California and told him that police had seized the gun used in the Edgewood robbery.

In the conversation Higashi reportedly told his father that he and Reese pistol whipped Sanders' son and another man shot Sanders. According to the court documents Higashi told his father, "it wasn't supposed to go that way."

Troyer said they've made two additional arrests in the case. On Tuesday police arrested Higashi's father, Alan Higashi, for obstructing. They also arrested one of the suspect's younger sisters for robbery in the first degree.

Police in Lake Stevens are searching to find connections between the Edgewood incident and a similar incident in the Lake Stevens area.

Police say on April 25th in Lake Stevens two men responded to a Craigslist ad at a home where they brandished firearms, tied up the family and stole several items including a flat-panel television, jewelry, and a large amount of Iraq currency.

In both cases, intruders responded to the ads by phone and arrived at private homes in the evening, posing as buyers and displaying cash. Then they pulled guns, tied up the residents and ransacked the homes.

Troyer says authorities believe these suspects are responsible for both the Edgewood and Lake Stevens home invasions.

"We are 100 percent sure that these are our guys from the Edgewood case. And we believe that they are the Lake Stevens case, and Lake Stevens police and detectives have been working with us and they believe they are the suspects as well."
