Seattle police shot a man Friday night after he allegedly aimed an assault rifle at them from the back yard of a West Seattle Home.

Police were responding to a 9-1-1 call on the 6100 block of Southwest Admiral Way, when a man came out of a house, holding what appeared to be a gun.

"The man saw the officers, the man leveled the gun towards the officers. The officers responded by firing , there were three officers who fired their weapons" said Deputy Chief Nick Metz.

Metz said the 59 year old man was transported to Harborview Medical Center, but his condition was not available.

The officers involved in the shooting are being questioned.
