Charges are expected Thursday against an Island County woman who had her friend take the wheel so she could put a sweatshirt on while driving.
Prosecutors believe that may have led to a head-on crash on Highway 20 September 3 near Oak Harbor that killed three people.
Jordyn Weichert, 21, will likely face three counts of vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault.
Troopers say Weichert asked her passenger, Samantha Bowling, to steer. The car swerved into a Subaru in the oncoming lane.
Deputy prosecutor David Carman says they're still deciding what charges Bowling should face for her role in the crash.
"It's an unusual situation where we have a driver in one seat, in control of the pedals, and another in the passenger's seat, in control of the steering wheel," he said.
Two of the women's friends, who were in the backseat of the Blazer, were killed in the collision.
Brian Wood, a video game designer from Vancouver, B.C. was also killed. He died instantly when the Blazer smashed into the driver's side of his car.
"It's a tragic incident, especially now that his pregnant wife, Erin, lost her husband and the father of the child who will never know him," Carman said.
Erin Wood is seven months pregnant.
A funeral service is planned for September 19th, two days after the couple would've celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary.
