BluWater Bistro is throwing a rubber duck race to help raise funds for the Leschi community's planned memorial for slain Seattle Police Officer Timothy Brenton.
The Leschi Community Council are working to raise money for a memorial at the intersection of 29th and E. Yesler Way, near where Officer Brenton was killed.
Several community members and business have contributed to the memorial, and BluWater Bistro is doing its part by hosting a rubber ducky race on Saturday.
The rubber ducks are for sale at all three BluWater locations in Lake Union, Leschi, and Greenlake. Each duck sells for $5, they can be left at the restaurant or you can bring your purchased duck back to the Leschi location for the race on Saturday. Duck owners do not have to be present to win.
Duck's in the race will have a chance at several prizes. The first place winner receives a $1,000 BluWater gift certificate. Second place wins a 1 year free car detailing, and third place wins a Ride the Duck gift certificate.
BluWater hopes to raise $10,000 to put toward the Leschi memorial for Officer Timothy Brenton.
