Mariners Medical Updates
From the Mariners Media Day head athletic trainer Rick Griffin updates the Mariners injury situation heading into Spring Training.
David Aardsma is on crutches and will be for the next 8-10 weeks after undergoing hip labrum surgery. He will not be ready for opening day but the Mariners are hopeful he will be read in the second week of the season.
Erik Bedard has been working out at home and is schedule to throw two flat ground sessions and two bullpens before arriving in Peoria. He will have no restrictions in Spring Training.
Milton Bradley has recovered from knee surgery and is a go for Spring Training.
Shawn Kelley coming off partial Tommy John Surgery will start a throwing program Feb 1 and is projected to make his return June 1.
Michael Saunders had his appendix out three weeks ago and is just resuming his conditioning. He also suffered a grade 1 strain of his right elbow ligament in an outfield collision in Venezuela. He will begin a throwing program this week.
Mike Carp has recovered from plantar fascitis and Matt Tuiasosopo from arthroscopic elbow surgery. Both are ready to go.
