Attention for Atheists and Jesus
There's a phrase in journalism that we all know, most of us detest, and yet radio, TV and print reporters do it occasionally anyway - anniversary journalism. The idea is that on the 1st, 5th, 10th or whateverth anniversary of a significant event, we produce stories to remind you of the event's importance.
Seasonal stories fall in the category of anniversary journalism, and I'm falling into this reporter trap because of a couple of things that caught my attention as Christian and Atheist attempts get their views out during the Christmas holiday.
The Washington State Capitol is often the focus of this annual battle, even though they're no longer allowing Christmas displays in the rotunda. Outside the capitol, Seattle Atheists have received approval to put up a "Tree of Knowledge" to promote their beliefs. What's that? It's a tree that's not decorated with ornaments, but with book covers from atheist and agnostic authors.
A billboard that just went up in my neighborhood in Seattle caught my attention too.

Jesus is _______. The idea being, Jesus means something different to everyone, and you're supposed to see the message and reflect on what Jesus means to you.The campaign comes from The City Church, based in Kirkland.
On the other extreme, the American Atheists have their own billboard and busboard campaign that's been well-documented here on MyNorthwest.com.
