The guys go over the possible deadline deals and the pros and cons of trading Morales and/or Ibanez. Tom wonders if the team could still win even if both of those are dealt for prospects. Colin thinks the "culture of winning" argument doesn't hold much water because the Rays starting winning once all the talent came up, after several losing seasons.
Would trading the veterans really be that catastrophic for the Mariners morale? It could be argued that the Mariners "culture of winning" actually began last season when the team had winning streaks of 6 and 8 games last season. Plus isn't the order of Seager, Morse, Smoak potent enough to offset the losses of Ibanez and Morales?
Colin wonders if it's time for him to start using emoticons in his texts. He also spells words out instead of abbreviating and using proper punctuation. But he is having problems getting his sarcasm across without emoticons. Tom plans to send every text to him with an emoticon now.
