As the Seahawks wrapped up the regular 2010-11 season, even the die-hard fans were wondering whether their team would make it into the playoffs. Now that they've made it as far as Chicago, the feelings have changed from skepticism to sheer optimism.
But the question remains: how far will they go? Are the 8-9 Seahawks Super Bowl bound or does the celebration stop in Chicago against the 11-5 Bears?
Mike Salk of 710 ESPN Seattle predicts, with confidence, the Seahawks will win.
"The Bears aren't exactly a juggernaut - they went 11-5 and backed into the No. 2 seed when the Packers and Eagles suffered injuries down the stretch," Salk wrote.
If you look to one of the most popular video game franchises, EA's "Madden NFL," the Seahawks are predicted to lose to the Bears, 26-20, in its official playoff simulation.
Not surprisingly, in Chicago, the Seahawks are just a minor hurdle on the path to the Super Bowl. In Saturday's Chicago Tribune, a special section dedicated to the Bears seems mostly focused on Dallas, with only two references to the Seahawks.
So where does that leave the 12th Man? The flag was raised atop the Space Needle, the fans dressed the part for Blue Friday, and crowds rallied as the team made its way to SeaTac airport on Friday.
What's your prediction?
