Additional Tuesday roster moves
By Liz Mathews
The Seahawks confirmed this afternoon that they had traded a 2012 undisclosed draft choice to the Detroit Lions in exchange for offensive tackle Tyler Polumbus.
Polumbus was on the field today for the last half of practice and was a limited participant in drills. He will be wearing jersey number 78.
The Lions had claimed Polumbus off of waivers from the Denver Broncos just six days ago. The Seahawks had filed a claim for him as well, losing out to Detroit based on last season's record and waiver order.
Polumbus had originally signed with Denver as an undrafted free agent and played two seasons for the team. He started eight of the Broncos' final nine games at right tackle in 2009, but has spent time at the left side as well.
To make room for Polumbus on the roster, the Seahawks placed cornerback Josh Pinkard on the non-football injury (N-F/I) list. Pinkard had signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent and is on the mend from a knee surgery.
According to the NFL CBA, a player who is placed on a Non-Football Injury or Illness list (“N-F/I”) will not be entitled to any compensation under his contract while on such list but, his contract will continue to run while in such status. Special conditions exist for players in the final year of their contracts.
Defensive end James Wyche was added to fill the roster spot made available by the Josh Wilson trade reported earlier today.
The Seahawks remain at 75 players and have until 3pm Saturday to trim the roster down to 53.
