Babineaux re-signed, Terrill released
By Liz Mathews
The Seahawks have re-signed safety Jordan Babineaux, one day after releasing him.
To make room for him on the roster, the team has released defensive tackle Craig Terrill.
Babineaux first signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted rookie in 2004. He has started 29 of 83 games played. Starting all 16 games last season at safety, he posted a career-high 105 tackles, 78 of which were solo. Babineaux has totaled 319 tackles, 2.5 sacks, eight interceptions and 23 passes defended throughout his career.
Terrill was originally drafted by Seattle with the 189th pick in the 2004 NFL Draft. Referred to as "a solid backup in the defensive line rotation" per the Seahawks, Terrill played in 76 career games and had four starts. He logged a total of 90 tackles, 66 solos, 8.0 sacks and one fumble return for a touchdown. Terrill ranks second in club history with five blocked field goals.
The release was first tweeted by Terrill on Tuesday: "Thanks to the Seahawks for 6 great years."
