How many coaches, coordinators, wr's, running backs, olineman etc... have to be replaced before we replace the most important position on this team. He is on his 2nd coach in 3 years, 4 coordinator, 3 QB coach, all new WR's. We will replace most of our o-line(again) but it wont matter I promise you that. I guarantee it. He is so bad it hurts.

Man you are the master at raising ire. I read your posts earlier today, and I do like how you detail out your position with examples and stats. I honestly haven't analyzed Matt in that way, and now I don't disagree with you AS MUCH as I used to. However, your alternatives for Matt aren't feasible. Unless we magically land Kolb, we will need Matt here for a couple years bridge the gap to the next guy. Think about it!

I totally agree that it will be difficult to land Kolb. That will be very tough but the diamond in the rough here is Matt Flynn. Do a Google search and read some reports on this guy. Last year Mike Mccarthey and Ted Thompson went to the Pro Bowl and said to each other that their back up Matt Flynn was just as talented as some of the QB's at the Pro Bowl. He has only played a full 16 game season 2 in his career without missing a game and we want to sign this guy before we potentially move to a 18 game season! Outside of three games this year I can make an arguement that is tough to ignore that he been the worst starting QB in the NFL over the last 3 seasons. He is one more thing to chew on Hardstar... only 3 QB's in the NFL had lower QB ratings than Hasselbeck did last year. All three are being replaced. All three. Why do we stop at Hasselbeck... I ll tell you because this town is full of Hasselbeck apologists and they cannot accept the fact that his skills have diminished to an embarrassing low. Before you send a fact-less rebuttal realize this he was only sacked 29 times this season 14th in the NFL so there were a lot of QB's that got hit more than he did this year. More than 55% of the team in the NFL had twice as many touchdown passes as the Seahawks did last year. Numbers tell the story my opinion just bashes your hero that is the issue you cant seem to cope with 8itch

foundation, I agree with you to a point (though your last sentence negates any professional credibility) but some of the same stats can be used in favor if hass's abilities- the numerous coaching changes (head, qb, line etc.) the Oline instabiltiy, leading to lack of protection and NO running game to work with, and the lack of high caliber WR. Football is a team sport- when the defense hurts, the offense is stressed. When the line can't open running lanes or protect the pass, the QB will be inefficient. If receivers can't get open, the QB is inefficient. This is the problem with the TEAM, not Matt. We need to fix nearly every facet of the team (admittedly, QB included). I do not think Hass is the answer. I also think his skills are declining, as happens to everybody (and he's an int machine under pressure). But he will be fine this year, maybe next with an improved line, leading to a better run game, better protection, WR developing their routes, defense staying off the field (giving up less points) ETC ETC ETC. It's a circle of TEAM EFFORT.

Good points dude. If I could be the devils advocate here. Here is the reason IMO why the running game doesn't work, try and hear me out. On passes beyond 10 yards he has the lowest QB rating the NFL. He does not have the arm strength to fit the ball into tight windows when needed. Just watch the Superbowl and some of the throws Aaron Rodgers made. There was a sports science segment on a few of the throws he made and had he not thrown the ball at 60 miles per hour not 65 miles per hour the ball would have been most likely knocked down or intercepted. Now this has nothing to do with the receiver it has everything to do with the decision making and arm strength of the QB. I would also argue the Dion Branch and Housmazadah were both accomplished and solid receivers in this league before coming to Seattle. (superbowl MVP and season receptions leader respectively) yet due to the lack of talent at our QB position they both under performed. Or so it seemed to the casual Hasselbeck apologist because nothing is his fault right? I think Dion Branch proved to still be a good receiver when he returned to NE this year and he and Tom Brady went off like they never skipped a beat. Tom Brady has arm strength and quick decisions making which Hass doesn't have.... Phillip Rivers was sacked 39 times this year and was without Malcom Floyd and Vincent Jackson his number 1 and 2 receivers for most of the year and still threw for 4500 + yards. Aaron Rodgers was sacked 50 times last year (nearly double) and threw for 4000 yards 30+ td's and 9 int's. The protection (14th) in the NFL was not terribly bad. The running game suffers because Matt cannot stretch the field with his arm. This TEAM needs a balanced attack with a QB who has the arm strength to get the opposing defense to respect the deep ball and get that 8th and 9th guy out of the box. I don't care how good your line is or your running back if the defense can stack the box it is tough to run the football. The coordinators are at Hasselbecks mercy. If I am a coach and I know that my QB doesn't have the arm strength to make a throw I can't call the play. Look at the Vikings offense last year and the Seahawks offense. They are both West Coast style of offensive as far the reads go but Favre had the ability to stretch the field with his arm. He has was sacked more than Hasselbeck was. He just got the job done which is what franchise QB's do. Something Hasselbeck due to his age and injuries he has suffered can no longer do.

Foundation "STOP" we all know how you feel about Matt, and you know how must of us feel about you! Even though I've never been A big fan of Matts, he's the best we have and we can't afford to get rid of him until we can pick up a better QB. Maybe if we had the seventh pick overall instead of being in the 25th spot we'd be in alot better spot to get a franchise QB. I'm a Seahawks fan, not a fan-atic like you.
