Say hello to summer

And give it a nice big hug for me! Jen is on the show to wage her war on pleasantries, and to tell us how we should be doing the Song of the Summer. I agree with her on both, but Andrew is in charge so we'll do it his way. I do think Andrew is right that Macklemore is awful and if he ever comes on TBTL I'll quit. (That's what he said right?) It's certainly not my favorite nomination, but we have two new submissions that I love.

"Closer" by Tegan and Sara is a very fun tune. Their latest album is so good that I think this might be one of the least catchy songs on it. My current favorite track off of Heartthrob is actually "Drove Me Wild," but that's not a single yet so I can get behind this one.

We also have "Diane Young" by Vampire Weekend, another great single off a great summer record. You could put either of these albums on at your BBQ and you wouldn't have to skip a single track. Jen referred to this as an "indie submission," but I'm not sure if this qualifies, since all the real hipsters burned their Vampire Weekend albums years ago. Either way I'm excited these songs are in the running and I look forward to hearing more nominations from you guys soon.

Stephen Tobolowsky: Baller

Luke's conversation with actor Stephen Tobolowsky continues on this epispde and we also have a feature with Japan's Number One Mixer, Sean DeTore. He visited Seattle's Pinball Museum, which I can't believe I never went to while living there. I'm a terrible pinball player (there's a steep learning curve and a limited number of quarters I can afford to spend) but I still always loved Shorty's and Add-A-Ball. If you haven't been to either of those establishments definitely check them out. The latter of which has great games like Bubble Bobble and bizarre relics like Wacko. On one occasion I played Bubble Bobble with a sweaty stranger who asked me "are you a points man or a distance man?" If that doesn't sell you on the place, I don't know what will.

Congratulations are in order as Luke and Carrie have now officially wed! If you haven't yet seen their wedding cake it was absolutely adorable and I will totally steal this idea. I'm not technically engaged but Luke referred to my girlfriend as my fiancé on the show, so it's only a matter of time.

Today's show features Ned Ryerson himself, Stephen Tobolowsky. I haven't actually gotten to listen to the whole episode yet since I left my iPhone in my mother's car, which she then drove to Malibu. I have listened to Mr. Tobolowsky's podcast before however, and the episode about the making of Groundhog Day is absolutely fascinating. Apparently the movie was supposed to be more of a Stripes-style Bill Murray gone wild flick. But Harold Ramis completely changed the tone at the last minute to create the Buddhist manifesto we all love today.

I've decided to put my own song of the day on hold to focus on the Song of the Summer contest. Friday's Song of the Day was Macklemore & Ryan Lewis with "Can't Hold Us". Today's is "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke featuring T.I. & Pharrell. That marks the second nominee with Pharrell involved so I think so far he's the real winner.

Hello and welcome to TBTL's Blogging Company: Blog Boutique and Bistro. I am not a witch, warlock or any other sort if fictional evil creature. I am here to stop the haters with my generations of respectful people I plan on creating.

If that sounds crazy it's just because I've been hacked, much like an insane Phoenix couple who own a bakery and were featured on Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmare. Luke doesn't believe they have been hacked but the police are at his house right now for saying that.

"I Love It" is not what anybody is saying about Amy's Baking Company Bakery Boutique and Bistro, but it is the name of a Song of the Summer nominee (awesome segue). While I think the song (by Icona Pop and Charli XCX) is a great jam, I have been jamming this jam into the ground and I will probably be sick of it soon. I think it peaked too early to take this competition, but I may be wrong. I'm not even going to talk about the Chipmunk song as I'm currently at an Eternal Sunshine-esque doctor's office having it removed from my memory.
