Deb Binion has a passion for helping young people struggling with mental health issues. Knowing all too well how mental illness can devastate a family, Deb and her husband founded the Jordan Binion Project six years ago to educate high school students in Pierce County and South King County about the signs and symptoms of mental illness, what they can do if they experience these symptoms, and how to help if they recognize the symptoms in friends or loved ones. Because she has turned her own devastation into an instrument of hope for so many, KIRO Radio and your community credit union, WSECU, are proud to honor Deb Binion as a Hometown Hero and award her with $2,000 as our way of saying thank you.
If you know of a Hometown Hero, an exceptional person who makes your community a better place to live, nominate that person at MyNorthwest.com/hero.
