The V remake reminds me...

The mini-series was awesome. When I was a kid I developed my lifelong love affair with tv. And nothing could be better than a mini-series because it was 2 hours a night of tv and it usually started on Sunday night and ran the whole week and it felt like it was an important cultural event that the whole country was watching together so my parents almost always let me watch them (not Thorn Birds though...I had to sneak to Grandma Georgia's to watch that one).

These are my favorites (don't freak out, I was too young for "Roots" and saw it in college, not in mini-series form):

North and South (Patrick Swayze as Orry and Kirstie Alley as Virgilia = super hot)
The Day After (scared the hell out of me and everyone else)
V (whatever happened to Marc Singer? He's having quite a week...Chevy Chase's character on "Community" came as BeastMaster on the Halloween episode)

So I was totally excited for the remake of V and I shouldn't have been. First, it's filled with C-list actors (sorry Bailey from Party of Five). Second, it isn't a mini-series, it's just an hour long weekly series like anything else. Third, it all feels like it's been seen before (one character actually said, "This is Independence Day").

V Cast

Nikki FInke, take a memo: Bring back the epic mini-series with big stars and five nights in a row... it brings families and even nations together... maybe it would even solve the health care debate... I don't know, but it could be awesome.

TBTL Episode # 435 Open Thread: TBTL, The VERY Early Days!

tbtl-1
This is going to be the most successful radio show ever. Or be cancelled in 1.5 years. One of the two.

I'm flying down to LA right during showtime today, but we've got quite a treat for you... the VERY FIRST HOUR OF TBTL EVER.

Tune in today @ Noon if you've ever wondered what this little experiment sounded like on it's maiden voyage (spoiler alert... not that good). We were nervous, giddy, inexperienced, and slightly drunk. If you listen closely you can almost hear my heart beating out of my chest.

Tomorrow we'll hook the lappy toppies up to the intertubes and do a live show from LA (our first ever outside the confines of Burbank Studios). The chances are pretty good we'll be nervous, giddy and slightly drunk (hell, it worked for that first show, why mess with success?)

See you then!

Dogs have feelings too

I think Mr. Knightly is going through quite a bit emotionally on our trip. He started out very excited and loves to be in the car:

But then when he realized he would now be living in the 16 ft. Bambi, he kinda freaked out, jumped up on the bed, curled into a ball and never wants to get down:

Then when we arrived in Monterey on Monday he took about 10 minutes to fashion himself this hiding place in our campspot and stays in this position all day long:

I took him to the beach last night for a little mommy/doggie time and hopefully he's feeling a little better this morning.

I read this quote in the Monterey newspaper this morning, "A lot of money buys a fine dog, but only love can wag its tail"
