Postcard from Yosemite

Despite some rough moments this week*, spending a few days in Yosemite was awesome. Many of you suggested that we visit the Ahwahanee Lodge (so Jason could see the historic architecture and I could visit the awesome bar). You were right on both counts. The building is so beautiful and the signature drink, "The El Capatini" is delicious.

Also, I saw a buck crossing the street...IN THE CROSSWALK

And we took a short nature walk to Yosemite Falls, which was totally fun. (Jason did the serious hiking while I read my book, Ken Follet's The Man From St. Petersburg, in the Great Hall of the Lodge)

*Rough moment: 6am Friday morning while letting the dog out we realized that pee water had started overflowing up through the drain in our tiny bathroom. Frantically bailing out pee water in 29 degree weather is not a highlight of the trip so far. Although, if I had to find a silver lining...at least I never went number 2 in the Bambi.

Happy Halloween From TBTL!

Courtesy of listener Jake (I can only imagine the confusion/scorn from the other folks @ the pumpkin party).
I bought about $45 worth of candy today (and I mean the real stuff, Kit Kat, Snickers, Reese's etc. None of this candy corn business, or even worse, apples) hoping to entice kids to walk all the way up our epic front steps.
Thanks to all of you who tuned in to Wait Wait this week to hear me sully the good name of NPR with jokes about Breast Cancer Fun Runs & other such stuff.
Have a fun night... See you monday!

The Ghosts of Halloweens Past
Since I'm staying in the diviest RV park in the state of California, I doubt I'll be invited to any Halloween parties tomorrow night. So, here I sit remembering back to all the costumes Jason and I have worn over the years...

Check out all of our costumes
I don't even think I need to buy candy as I've seen no children in 4 days (thank God...children do not belong here in depressingland)

Episode # 431, TBTL Spooktacular!

ladies and ghouls... on this day before Halloween, we've got all kinds of scariness in store for you... Dave Boze (our REAL ACTUAL friend and co-worker) tells the story of the time a super-scary, super-fast demon-lady ran him down in the street, plus Luke's one and only time trick or treating, and Chicken Heart! The scariest radio thingy from 1937 you will ever hear.
