    Panic Signing
From Catfish Hunter to present day, history shows that signing pitchers to long term deals doesn't work out. Good to know the M's are splashing $175 million for 7 years on Felix...this won't end well.

Signing a 26 year old proven starter who has been healthy predominantly throughout this entire career, is a ULTIMATE Fan favortie, and an all around good guy will not end up bad. Even if his last year or two aren't the best, you'll be getting one of the best pitchers in the game throughout his entire prime. THAT is what you're paying for. I got to meet him the other day and he's an oustanding young man even when not pitching.

Congrats Felix! You and your family deserve it!!!

I love that Felix wants to extend to stay here which is what he always says to the media, and now seems to be proving that. I think he feels he is good enough and the team is good enough to win a title. I hate guys who feel they need to move to a "winner" I prefer Felix's attitude,"I can make the Mariners a winner". I think it will inspire the whole team and staff. He is definitely the most exciting Mariner we have and everyone loves watching him work. GO M's!

the highest paid pitcher on a losing team, ever.
this shows me that felix is getting paid what he deserves, but on a team that will never help him win a world series ring. hey cheapskate chuck armstrong, friend of george argyros, you need several more as great as him, remember randy, couldn't get it done all by himself and he had griffey edgar buhner tino. felix has nothing. none of these guys with him are anywhere near what the 1995 mariners are except morales.

    Hilarious...
how you are automatically writing off EVERY PLAYER on this team except for Morales. Glad you're not a GM. Do you honestly believe that in no way can any of these players, WHO ARE MOSTLY YOUNG TO BEGIN WITH, become successful??? Seriously?!?!?! If you believe that, you need to get some freaking sun and Vitamin-D because your depressive state is depressing!

    one player team.....
that's why we got 2 big names with Morales and Morse, have the best farm system in all of baseball where 3 top tier pitchers will be called up in the next year or so, along with a very good catcher. Oh and we have the best defense in baseball as well. I know you weren't born in the 90's and it was before your time, but we had 5 excellent players in the mid-90s as well. Sorry kiddo, but I just shot down your "very weak" argument

Are you serious? Why I'm writing to you since it's obviously a waste of time, but if the Mariners were not such a young team on young contracts, this might be a bad signing, but you're getting one of the best pitchers throughout his entire prime when he's been healthy and at the top of his game for the last 5 years.

Too many moronic fans whine and cry about these teams but when they lock down a player of this caliber for all time then they whine some more on how it is a bad decision. "One player team"??? You obviously aren't paying attention. Thought that isn't a surprise.

newton obviously was home schooled by his inbred hillbilly parents since he thinks 1 is greater than every number in existence. And you should never capitalize his name. He doesn't deserve it. All he supports is the Seahawks, and only the Seahawks, which somehow he actually seems more tolerable (still can't write competently though).

First, "No way" is two words. Also, dumb(er, est), "planet", and "far" should not be capitalized, unless any one of those words represent the first word of a sentence. In addition, geezzz is not a word. Furthermore, you don't need to put a period after an exclamation point, because the exclamation point alone represents the completion of the sentence. The preceding argument also applies to question marks. Finally, given the overwhelming number of brain cells present in even the dumbest of human brains, growing one singular brain cell would have a negligent effect on the overall intelligence of said brain. A more appropriate exclamation would have been "grow some brain cells".

That's alot of "red mark" for such a short comment.

    Accountability
Glad to see others calling Newton out on his "antics". His disdain for the Mariners always seems to go back to tax dollars just like it does with the new Sodo Arena, yet he's a Seahawks fan and never seems to have an answer when called out on what he thinks about the fact that the Clink was funded primarily on public dollars. His posts generally never include anything resembling logic so we probably should just ignore him, but it's too difficult at times. It's also important to mention that he'd probably say the same thing had we flipped Felix for the top 5 hitting prospects in baseball. Well done Newton, care to respond?

    what?
This didn't add a whole lot of extra money to his current salary. Too often people look at the big number and think he's getting that all right now. 25 million a year, 5-6 more then he was going to get. How do you think that it will effect ticket prices? They have a cheap salary budget to begin with.

This is a great move, glad it's finally done. After seeing so many of our STARS walk away it awesome to keep a franchise guy around for the long haul! Felix wanted to be here. He knows what the Great Pacific Northwest is all about and has to offer! Giving a big contract to a FA and he gets hurt or under performs he'll get run outta town! Felix grew up with the Mariners he has invested in them and the community. I am so happy the Mariners have invested in him! Thank you King Felix for all your commitment and dedication to this community and the FANS!
