A committee of NBA owners has voted unanimously to deny the relocation of the Sacramento Kings to Seattle, seemingly dashing the hopes of investor Chris Hansen and an entire region.

    JUST WAIT.......
How much will we get to gloat when the NBA is still in the old arena in Sacramento 5 years from now, the team is losing money, and attendance stinks! Would the NBA ever admit that they made a big mistake....just wait!!

I'm sure this isn't totally over yet, expansion could possibly be on the table. Not sure what the Seattle's group response will be. Without a solid guarantee of an expansion franchise (and timeline), I think the current plans are probably dead though. I don't want to see the city used over and over as leverage by the NBA against other cities by franchises that are having financial/arena issues. And today has certainly had a negative affect on the Seattle NBA fanbase.

    League officials make cities covet
NBA officials put cities that want a team in the position of having to covet a team from another city, because it's the only way to get one. I hate the immoral position the League puts us in. Seattle's market should be enough to justify an expansion team. And where were these officials when the Sonics were approved to leave?

    Time for a boycott
Seattle has been screwed over twice by David Stern and the NBA. I say ever single sports fan in Seattle should vow to now watch a single NBA game next season or buy a single piece of NBA merchandise, so that the NBA can see what it's like to lose a market this size.

You know, I agree with you there. If the NBA committee does not give us an expansion team, let's all not watch a single NBA game until we get a team. David Stern is close to a dictator than the other sports commissioners there.

    Right On!
EXCELLENT! We don't need another fricken loser in this city. We've got the Mariners and Sounders to carry that load. And, give me a break we don't need multi-millionaire ego maniacs soaking the city for over priced stadiums and tickets. How about putting those funds to good use...like education in this state. Sounders suck...Mariners suck (even more) so lets not have another. (Any one wonder why the Bu-Jays & Mariners come in at same time...Blue-Jays have won 2 WS ...and appears they might get there again this year...what about the M's...same crap every year...super high expect ions at pre-season then they assume their fizzling role. Seattle DOES NOT NEED professional BB to be a viable sports town.

    Uhhhh....
They can't put that $200 million in tax dollars towards education or anything else. It does not exist without the team and the stadium. So there is no extra cash just sitting around now.

I bet the Sacramento deal falls through anyway ...
Now that they've "saved" their team I suspect the sale won't even go through, let alone building an arena.

No to relocation does not mean no sale
Hansen's group made an offer that was accepted for the Kings, and they have a legally binding contract for that sale. Sure Stern can try to block the teams relocation, but that doesn't mean he can make the Maloofs break their deal with Hansen as well. No, all that means is the Kings are 'forced' to stay in Sac until the new owners pull a Clay Bennett and say bye bye to Sacramento. Stern thought he was clever, but he will end up being seen for the corrupt fool he really is.

    Disappointed...but we'll live
Congrats Sactown...you're keeping your beloved team. It's disappointing because I was actually looking forward to watching the NBA again. I tried to get back into the groove, however I just couldn't stomach it. We know who's going to win the title before the season tips off, and I'm almost positive the league pulled whatever strings it had to in order to get the Lakers in the playoffs....I don't miss that crap! This league has always been run a little bit like WWE Wrestling...I'll be honest...that league is manufactured...your Kings have been the victims on numerous occasions...You'll always and I do mean always be the Generals against a league that loves it's Globetrotters...So good luck Sactown...you can keep 'em...Keep the Faith!
