Despite current statistics that show a decrease in heroin-related deaths, there may be a drastic increase in the number of teens using heroin in King County.

    Marijuana may or may not be the gateway to harder drugs. But have you noticed that every time the argument to legalize pot that every other post is a call to "legalize drugs"? We are fighting a war, a war on drugs we can not loose.

    that war was lost a long time ago, somehow that has escaped you. Drugs has been illegal for as long as I have been alive and more kids do drugs now than when I was younger.

    I myself have been to an outpatient treatment facility for alcohol abuse. There was also an N.A. (Narcotics Anonymous) program there and most of the people there were addicted to heroin...Say 75% of the group...Not one of them was over 30 years old. I am talking 17, 18, 22, 26, etc. They are getting it downtown on corners in Seattle, in South East Tacoma, and other crummy places. I have seen the track marks and the pain and I can tell you this problem is only going to get worse. Plus, it's cheap, crap heroin (none of it is good) and it's even worse and more addictive. This is one drug you cannot afford to try...EVER...Please, educate your kids because it's a horrible thing for anyone to go through.

    Haven't you people heard that we lost the war on drugs years ago. People can function fine on heroin so why not allow them to buy it at the local pharmacist (like they buy Oxy with a prescription).These people have made a poor decision on using drugs but instead of spending huge sums in a losing effort to police this give them safer heroin

    The stuff comes out of the Middle East raw and sold to the large drug cartels in Mexico. There it is processed into its final form and transparted across the most open border between countries or maybe its under in caves. Just like Meth, factories in China and other countries sell tons of red phosphorus to the Mexican cartels and then factories there process it for resale.

    Heck Mexico doesn't need to import Middle east Heroin the poppy grows in Mexico. That Middle East Afghan stuff is used up by our Euro friends.Guess what the US can put them out of business how? By NOT using the stuff thats how.WE can't stop the illegal import of drugs there is too much $$$ involved to stop it from coming. Its a complete waste of money to even try
