Plenty to like about new Seahawk Bruce Irvin
The Seahawks' selection of Bruce Irvin with the 15th pick sent me scrambling to my computer to find some information on this guy. Once I found his bio and footage of his sacks, I started to get excited about him.

Please do not give Irvin the number 59. We don't want to jinx him with Curry's old number...

I agree. That number should be banned from the Seahawks facitliy.

    Irvin's number
No need to worry about that. He's going to be #51. I recently saw that on his twitter.

Dave, I like your insight and writing style
It must be your Stanford education. If any of those armchair draft analysts had any moxie or talent evaluation ability, they would be employed by an NFL team.

...as long as Stern the Burn is the corporate dictator? Poor Larry O'Brien. NFL is, remains America's sport, and guys like Bruce the I make it that way. Nicely diced analysis....

also, a word to the wise....
...regarding team "character." Hopefully Irvin will keep good company and find a good team mentor and appreciate how far he's gone. The straight and narrow can vary in size under too much of a good thing in the pros. If the worse is possibly nicking donuts after hours, keep it at that and that alone.

    great article dave.
i am very fired up for seahawks football this year. they have gobs of young talent, a coach who has exceeded expectations thus far, and it seems they have as good of a shot at the division as anyone. there will always be injuries, but if the hawks can stay relatively healthy i believe anything can happen this year.

With lots of rooms to grow
It is almost scary to think that Bruce Irvin got this far with little coaching. With NFL level coaching and if Irvin is willing, he seems to have a lot of untapped potential to allow him to excel in the NFL.

love the rufus porter reference... one of my favorite, all-time seahawks (next to Wyman, of course..). but need to tell Dave that batting "one thousand" is 1.000 ---- not .1000. But I'm sure it's the editors issue, not Dave. ;)

Brock the Husky was probably doing the editing (we all know Brock can't write so he does audio only). Darn illiterate Huskies anyway.
