My mother had one at lake Tahoe. She did not use it for years and tried to get rid of it. We could not even give it away. It was cheaper to walk in off the street and rent one at the timeshare for the week than what you were paying in taxes and dues. Finally my cousin took it. I think the taxes and dues were about a thousand dollars a year for one week. With 52 weeks in a year, they were taking in $50,000 per unit each year. Pretty sure that the cost of maintenance and taxes could not be that high per unit. We tried to give it back, and they would not take it. We said that we would not pay, they said they would sue and turn over to collection agency. This was for a nice one, less than 100 yards from the lifts at heavenly valley ski area. My mom got taken by a company that said they could sell it for her. They had her pay around $1000 to sell it. You set the price, and if you sold it first, they gave you your money back. They knew that no one would take it even for free, so they do nothing, and pocket your money. If you sell it for less than the price you set, you do not get your money back. Total scam.
