Neagles two goals lifts Sounders over Earthquakes

SEATTLE (AP) - With all of their regulars back on the field, the Seattle Sounders were too much for San Jose.
Lamar Neagle scored twice and Mauro Rosales added a goal and an assist to help lead the Seattle Sounders FC to a 4-0 win over the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday.
Neagle made it 3-0 in the 54th minute with a left-footed kick from just inside the box after he danced around a defender and gave Seattle (3-3-3) its highest scoring output of the season after scoring only three in the first eight games.
"It was great to get a 4-0 win," Neagle said.

SEATTLE (AP) - A promise from coach Sigi Schmid wasnt enough to put the Seattle Sounders into the win column.
The Sounders failed to deliver on Schmids victory guarantee, tying the New England Revolution 0-0 on Saturday despite dominating most of the play.
In remarks to Seattle-area reporters Friday, Schmid promised that the Sounders (0-3-2), off to the worst start in the five-year history of the franchise, would put their first mark in the MLS win column.
"It was all about me showing support for the players because I believe in the group, and I believe in what we have," Schmid said after the game.

SEATTLE (AP) - When Major League Soccer decided the third week of the regular season was going to feature matchups of the leagues best rivalries, they made sure Seattle facing Portland was the centerpiece.
It might seem a little early in the schedule, but the heated competition in Cascadia is already set to begin on Saturday night when the Sounders host the Timbers.
"This is a great challenge early in the season for us," Seattles Eddie Johnson said.
