Dori: Sanctuary city status attracts crime to Washington

Once again, the danger of our region being a sanctuary county and state has reared its ugly head.
I have explained to you the financial motivation behind the sanctuary status. It is not about protecting illegals from a humanitarian standpoint. We have a greater percentage of illegal immigrants in our state than just about any other state in the country. And it’s because of our sanctuary state attitude. This is where people come to seek refuge knowing they’re not going to be asked by law enforcement about their citizenship.

The reason our politicians do this is because we have an extra congressional seat in Washington, D.C. due to the number of illegals in our census count. It gets you federal dollars and it gets you another guaranteed Democrat seat in Congress. That’s all that people like Jay Inslee and Dow Constantine care about when they declare sanctuary. They want another Democrat in Congress and they want the money that comes with it.
But what you have to acknowledge is when one of those illegals commits a crime, that needs to be directly tied to and attributed to our politicians.
On Friday morning in Auburn, a 13-year-old girl told police that a man followed her in his vehicle, got out of his vehicle, and grabbed her in an attempted abduction. According to police, she was able to run away, and based on her description, police later found the suspect, a 43-year-old guy.
Let me tell you about the man they arrested, Victor Paz Fajardo. According to the judge, he is an illegal from Honduras who has been deported twice from the United States of America. But, because we have such a porous border, and because we have a state that tries to attract as many illegals as possible, he was able to come back again and again.
It’s like the heroin problem — if you tell heroin addicts around the country that we have a hands-off drug policy, then you will attract heroin addicts from around the country. It’s the same with illegals — if you tell people that police will not check your ID or turn you over to ICE, you will attract illegal immigrants.
According to KIRO 7, Paz Fajardo’s defense attorney told the judge that his client has a history including domestic violence assault, second-degree burglary, and a 2006 warrant for a Pierce County criminal trespass case.
Great job with that sanctuary status, Dow Constantine, Jay Inslee. When somebody who is in this region specifically because of our sanctuary policies, and when they are committing crimes, then that crime is directly attributable to the politicians who create those policies. And it has got to stop.
