Dori’s reach apparently extends much further than the Pacific Northwest. As Dori announced during Friday’s Fastest 15, a listener in China named Guodong emailed the Dori Monson Show to say how much he enjoys listening to the podcast on his daily commute through Beijing.
Guodong did have one question for listeners, however. For those who don’t live thousands of miles away and are listening to the radio in real time — how are they able to listen to the show in the middle of the workday? What kind of jobs do they have that allow them to listen to the radio during work?
The radio show’s text line immediately began blowing up, and over the next several minutes, hundreds of texts from listeners came in telling what their occupations are.
A sampling of the answers included:
- Flower deliverer
- Fed-Ex driver
- Carpenter
- Second-shifter
- Workers on their lunch break
- Stay-at-home mom
- Mechanic
- Beer distributor
- Boeing employee
- PUD meter reader

- Aviation repair worker
- Real estate broker

“This is stunning,” Dori said as the texts rolled in. “It looks like a slot machine, our text messages here.”
