Ron Upshaw’s shower thoughts: Words, weather, and fancy dinners
Jul 18, 2018, 3:10 PM
Hey, it’s Wednesday, time for the random thoughts that ping pong thru my head while I’m shampooing my hair. I call it Shower Thoughts.
RELATED: Best things around Seattle are free
I don’t know about you, but I tried really hard to not complain about this mini heat wave. Since I like to complain in the winter when it’s rained 37 days in a row, I feel like I’m out of line to also complain when there’s not a cloud in the sky.
Weather
Having said that, I bought one of those in-the-room air conditioner units that vents out the window and it’s a mystery to me. It says it’s rated for more than the square footage of my room. There is cold air coming out of the front vent into the room. I went outside and put my hand by the exit vent. There is hot air coming out, but the room does not seem to be cooling off. The thermometer on the wall went from 81 to 77 in like four hours. What am I doing wrong?
Words
I sometimes spell things so incorrectly that even the auto-correct has no idea what I’m trying to say.
Watching people discuss the difference between the word “would” and “wouldn’t” would be a lot more entertaining if there wasn’t so much at stake. Hashtag #sad.
Vacation
I wonder if there’s more people that come to the Pacific Northwest that are on vacation than there are leaving the Northwest to go on vacation? This seems like the perfect time to not leave to me.
Seattle construction cranes
So I watched the instillation of crane the other day down the street from my house. I always wondered how they do that. So a big crane on a truck lifted up the smaller crane that was being bolted to the ground. But what happens when the crane in the ground is taller than mobile one? How do they get the top arm and counterweights on those cranes? I want to know!
Fancy dinner
Finally, I went to a fancy dinner last night to catch up with an old friend. Shout out to the crew at Canlis for your hospitality. I’ve never been in a world class wine cellar before, but it’s pretty impressive. What a great meal.
That’s it. Shower’s over.
