For the first time since Sunday, the entire Western Washington region is not under an Air Quality Alert.

Wind off the ocean began moving inland into Washington on Wednesday evening, gradually moving smoke out of the region. But it’s a slow process.

Air quality readings improved to “good” or “moderate” in southwest Washington and locations close to the Puget Sound. That’s a significant improvement from “very unhealthy” or “unhealthy.” See the map.

The clean air agency also issued a Stage 1 burn ban Monday afternoon. This means no outdoor burning in King, Pierce, Snohomish, and Kitsap counties, including charcoal barbeques, campfires or bonfires, and fire pits or similar free-standing devices. That ban has since been  lifted. Check the status.
