Tumwater teachers have tentative agreement

Sep 16, 2018, 11:00 PM

Teachers in Tumwater have reached a tentative agreement with the Tumwater School District. School will begin Tuesday, Sept. 18.

Tim Voie, President of the Tumwater Education Association, told KIRO Radio the tentative agreement was a relief for the union. He says the three big things they sought were changes in safety, classroom size, and pay.

Unfortunately, Voie could not share details of the agreement on Sunday. He’ll have more information after he announces details at the ratification meeting Monday morning at Tumwater High School.

Meanwhile, teachers in Tacoma have reached a tentative agreement with the district. Members of the Tacoma Education Association will vote on a contract on Monday. And in Battle Ground, teachers reached an agreement on Saturday. Classes start on Monday.
