Ross: God had a chance to weigh in on the Kavanaugh hearing

We put witnesses under oath on the theory that the wrath of God will compel them to tell the truth.
It’s not just “He said, she said.” It’s “He swears, she swears.”
So, in the Senate judiciary committee Thursday, we heard this under oath: “Doctor Ford, with what degree of certainty do you believe Brett Kavanaugh assaulted you?”
Dr. Ford replied under oath 100 percent.”
And then we heard this under oath, from Kavanaugh: “I liked beer, I still like beer. But I did not drink beer to the point of blacking out and I never sexually assaulted anyone.”
And I thought, “so much for oaths!” I suppose it means God is angry with one of them, but we don’t know which! You have two sworn stories colliding head-on. And so Senator Kennedy of Louisiana threw a literal Hail Mary.
“Do you believe in God … I want you do look me in the eye — are Dr. Ford’s allegations true?”
Kavanaugh said he did believe in God and said “They are not accurate as to me … I swear to God.”
I held my breath. Because if ever there was a time for God to break in to the TV feed, his would be it.
But I guess even He couldn’t figure it out.
And now we all could use a beer.
