Find out how the AM 770 KTTH talk show hosts would vote in November’s election.

US Senate – Susan Hutchison or Maria Cantwell?

rantz

Jason Rantz- I’m voting for Susan Hutchison because she has what it takes to make Washington relevant in the D.C. Maria Cantwell is an absent Washingtonian who does little. She wakes from her slumber when it’s time for re-election, but she’s disengaged the rest of the time. We deserve someone better.

Burns

Michael Medved- Susan Hutchison is the best Senate candidate Republicans have been able to field against Maria Cantwell ever since she stole the election from the great Slade Gorton in 2000. Sure, she’s a long-shot, but Susan deserves your support.

Burns

Todd Herman- Hutchison – Maria Cantwell has accomplished nothing. She is pro-debt, pro-bureaucracy, in favor of government control over all sectors of your life. Hutchison is hardly perfect, but she is very much pro-liberty, in favor of fiscal restraint and a new voice in DC.

8th District – Dino Rossi or Kim Schrier?

rantz

Jason Rantz- Dino Rossi is the right fit for the 8th district. Kim Schrier is a Seattle Progressive — an extreme voice for folks living in the district. Rossi has a record of bipartisan success and will be able to make strides in D.C. to bring attention to the region. Schrier is relying on a ton of outside money to air truly dirty political ads. There’s a reason: she has no record of accomplishments.

Burns

Michael Medved- Dino Rossi is the best possible replacement for Dave Reichert and, once he wins this seat, he’ll be able to hold this seat as a common-sense conservative for as long as he chooses to serve.

rantz

Todd Herman- Dino Rossi – He is a conservative with a well-earned reputation of creating actual bipartisan approached to cutting debt without cutting safety net programs; writing budgets that decrease spending without limiting core government programs. He is also impossible to buy. Kim Schrier is a congressional version of Kshama Sawant.

Seattle Prop. 1 – $600M education levy. Yes or No?

rantz

Jason Rantz- No, not that it’ll make any difference in a city that is in love with throwing money at education, even while expecting no meaningful results. Silly renters will say yes, thinking they won’t get hit by another property tax. They’ll see an increase in cost of living, then complain about how expensive it is to live in a studio apartment on the Hill. Hey, dope, stop approving so many tax increases.

Burns

Michael Medved- No – Seattle schools, which have made some progress in recent years, need further reform, not another infusion of taxpayer cash.

rantz

Todd Herman- No! – The Seattle School District has a budget that approached $900 MILLION DOLLARS. About $350 MILLION of that goes–not to teachers, not to students–it goes to the central office. Seattle schools are NOT short on money, they lack the honesty to stand-up to big labor. They could cut the central office in half and feel zero effects in the classrooms.

I-940 – More training for cops and deadly-use-of force measure. Yes or No?

rantz

Jason Rantz- No. I-940 is fueled by anti-cop animus. This initiative has nothing to do with training — cops here already get top-of-the-line training. This is about making it easier to politicize use of force cases. There is a sick blood-lust to prosecute cops and this makes it easier for an anti-cop lunatic to land on a jury to throw a cop away for a split-second move. This puts officer lives on the line.

Burns

Michael Medved- No. This will do nothing to protect police officers or the public and will benefit only bureaucrats.

rantz

Todd Herman- No! – NO! – This places the burden for the insane decisions of King County and Seattle on the backs of cops. We have a so-called county prosecutor in King County, “Heroin” Dan Satterberg who openly promotes drug use, refuses to prosecute gang members and brags about our low incarceration rates. We have a so-called King County Executive who pretends there are no 17-year olds dangerous enough to jail. We have a joke of a governor, Sleepy Jay Inslee, who has destroyed the state’s main mental health care hospital. It is those offices that failed people like Charlena Lyles, a woman who apparently suffered from what appears to have been a well-documented mental illness. She would be alive today were the mental health courts to have recognized that a woman, who believes she turns into a werewolf, really needs compassionate, mental health assistance. This initiative will stop cops from protecting us with proactive policing and will place the burden of idiotic political decisions on their backs.

I-1639 – Gun restrictions measure. Yes or No?

rantz

Jason Rantz- No. This is a transparently obvious push to go after guns, it criminalizes self-defense and treats all gun situations the same. I’m never in favor of taking away rights. I’m curious who will go door-to-door of our young troops and veterans, asking them to give up their weapons because some Seattle Leftist is scared of guns and a gun culture they don’t even pretend to understand.

Burns

Michael Medved- No. This complex, irrational measure will do absolutely nothing to increase safety while intensifying bureaucratic burdens for law-abiding gun owners. If it were only raising the age limitation for semi-automatic weapons to 21, it would be acceptable. But the measure attempts to do much more than that.

rantz

Todd Herman- NO! A 20-year-old soldier returns from war and a stinking bureaucrat takes away his or her rifle? Yep, this illegal initiative would demand that. A thief breaks into someone’s home, steals the homeowner’s property and uses it in a crime … and the HOMEOWNER is charged!? Yep, this illegal initiative does that. The government gives itself the right to look into the private discussions between you and your doctor or therapist without a warrant? Yep, this illegal initiative does that. A single mother who experiences a home invasion robbery will have to kindly ask a would-be rapist to wait a few moments while she unlocks her gun safe next to her bed: yep, this illegal initiative demands she not defend herself with her weapon. This initiatives does not address: suicides, which make up about 50 percent of all deaths by gun (unless you believe that a suicidal person cannot open their own gun safe). This illegal initiative does address murders committed in criminal-on-criminal violence–largely gang related–that are committed with pistols, which make up about 33 percent of deaths via gun, unless you believe gang members will now lock up their guns. This initiative violated the state Constitution, which requires — you know — the actual, real LANGUAGE of the legislation to appear on the signature forms. This illegal initiative LITERALLY did not contain the actual language. In the real world, that is fraud. This illegal initiative violates the state Constitution and RCWs in that it contains AT LEAST 17 topics, the law requires initiatives contain only one topic. Lastly, NO GUN OWNER I KNOW will actually follow this law; NO COP I know will actually go knock on a gun owner’s door to make sure they are following it. No criminal will even read this law.

I-1631 – Carbon fee measure. Yes or No?

rantz

Jason Rantz- No. This will increase your gas bill, funneling millions to an accountable board to spend via a plan that doesn’t exist. And that whole thing about not really making a dent in carbon emissions.

Burns

Michael Medved- No. The core problem with this initiative is that it provides no assurance that the burdensome new taxes would serve any useful purpose.

rantz

Todd Herman- NO! – These are NOT “fees,” these are taxes. The initiative LITERALLY USES EXISTING TAX COLLECTION METHODS and pretends they are fees. That is a lie and it was created because people know we are overtaxed. This insane law would take $600 MILLION dollars out of YOUR pocket. It is on gas for your car and heat for your home. Big industry is EXEMPTED and will give that $600 MILLION to a 12 person board, with only one elected member. That board will be able to spend that money ANY WAY THEY SEE FIT. If they fail to reduce carbon output–WHEN they fail–the board is not punished! No, when they fail, the rogue board of paper pushers is REWARDED with even MORE money. Lastly, Washington state can do exactly ZERO to reduce global carbon emissions. Remember this: by the simple act of breathing, YOU will emit 30 million tons of carbon in an ordinary life span … carbon that trees and other plants metabolize. Unless you want to reward a body of politically mobbed-up cronies with at least $600 million in exchange for what you exhale, vote no on this blue print for corruption.

I-1634 – Affordable Groceries measure. Yes or No?

rantz

Jason Rantz- No. I find the sugary beverage tax in Seattle a sin and I hope no other city proposes such a dumb tax. However, it should be up to local government to increases these taxes, however ill-advised they are. And if we don’t like the tax, we can vote the politicians out of office and repeal it. I’m sympathetic to the argument, but not moved enough to take a local issue out of the hands of locals. That said, if this were to pass, I’m not going to be too upset.

Burns

Michael Medved- No. If local elected representatives choose to tax sugary beverages, they should have the right to do it. If you don’t like it, vote in new local representatives. Say ‘NO’ to Big Soda.

rantz

Todd Herman- Yes! State revenues are at record highs; Seattle revenues are at record highs. There is ZERO REVENUE SHORTAGE in our state or King County governments. These elected con artists REFUSE to properly spend money. When Seattle will spend $12 MILLION PER MILE for a bike lane and a hundred million for a few blocks of a choo-choo train, you can rest assured there is absolutely no shortage of money, just an insatiable greed for more. MAKE the paper pushers and con artists do what you do in YOUR family: MAKE THEM prioritize their spending on the actual duties of government.

An earlier version of this voter’s guide mistakenly pegged the education levy in Seattle at $6 million.
