Local bikeshares are meant to make it more convenient for Seattleites to get around; even, apparently, when they need a getaway vehicle after a robbery.

A man and woman are believed to be responsible for at least one of two gunpoint holdups in Capitol Hill this past weekend, reports Capitol Hill Seattle. At 5:30 a.m. on Saturday near Broadway and Pike — which is too early in the morning to be held up — a man was robbed by an assailant with a black handgun, who then fled with his female accomplice on a pair of Lime bikes like a lame version of Bonnie and Clyde.

There were no bicycle cops in the vicinity, so a low-speed bike chase did not ensue. The male suspect was described as a 5’7″ white male in his 20s with a thin build. He was riding a green Lime bike at the time, but since there are thousands of them strewn about Seattle, that did little to narrow things down.

On Sunday, the bike share bandits are also said to be responsible for a similar holdup at 3:30 a.m. on 13th Ave E. They fled on foot this time, probably because there were no Lime bikes around.

Neither the suspects nor the getaway bikes from the initial holdup have been found.
