Viadoom commute: How will train service be affected by the viaduct closure?

Jan 11, 2019, 5:39 AM | Updated: 5:47 am

Do you commute to work every day on light rail or the Sounder train? KIRO Radio’s resident traffic expert Chris Sullivan is here to break down how you’ll be affected once Viadoom hits on Jan. 11.

There’s no way to really predict how the permanent closure of the Alaskan Way Viaduct will affect your commute, but Sully has a few suggestions.

“One thing I’ve gotten a lot of questions about is train service,” he said. “Light rail can be a pretty decent option for those of you looking for alternate ways to get into downtown, especially if you live in the south end.”

Bottom line: There’s no way to know for sure what the future holds, but altering your commute in some way will likely be a must for most riders.
