A recent CNN poll regarding Democratic presidential candidates in 2020 revealed that 73 percent of respondents have still never heard of Washington State Governor Jay Inslee.

The poll sought to gauge favorability and familiarity for a handful of declared candidates, for a list that included Inslee, Bernie Sanders, Beto O’Rourke, Cory Booker, Amy Klobuchar, and more.

Among a sample size of 1,003 respondents, 73 percent stated that they had never heard of Gov. Inslee, while 7 percent viewed him favorably; 71 percent of Democrats/Democrat-leaning independents didn’t know who Inslee was, while 12 percent held a favorable opinion.

A total of 7 percent of all respondents viewed Inslee unfavorably, while 4 percent of Democrats shared the same opinion. And 13 percent of all those polled had no opinion on the Washington governor.

Comparatively, 41 percent of respondents had heard of early front runner Bernie Sanders back when he first ran for president in 2015. For the most recent poll, just 5 percent of respondents didn’t recognize him (6 percent of Democrats).

Sanders was also viewed favorably by 74 percent of Democrats, and 46 percent of all respondents, the highest total of any candidate.

The candidate with the next best name recognition behind Sanders was Beto O’Rourke, with just 35 percent of respondents — and 34 percent of Democrats — stating that they had never heard of him.

The other governor to throw his hat into the running — Colorado’s John Hickenlooper — was the second least-recognizable candidate, with 69 percent of those polled saying that they had never heard of him, along with 70 percent of Democrats.

In terms of total support for candidates, former Vice President Joe Biden led polling at 33 percent, followed by Sanders at 13 percent, and Kamala Harris at 9 percent. The only thing next to Gov. Inslee’s name on that ranked list was a telling “N/A.”

Inslee registered as the “second choice” for 1 percent of respondents.
