Last night, my iPhone displayed this message from the president himself.

“The Republicans are developing a really great HealthCare Plan with far lower premiums & deductibles than ObamaCare,” he Tweeted. “Vote will be taken right after the Election when Republicans hold the Senate & win back the House.”
I’m going to assume he really means it, even though he Tweeted it April 1. But, even if he does really mean it, it’s proof that Republicans — who have been voting since 2011 to repeal Obamacare — still don’t have a replacement ready.
And then — I saw those pictures from the border at El Paso where there were so many migrants, they had to be corralled under a bridge. A few blocks away, Democrat Beto O’Rourke was kicking off his presidential campaign.
“And let’s remember, that every single one of us including those who are just three or four blocks from here are fellow human beings and deserve to be treated like our fellow human beings,” he told a crowd of supporters.
A worthy proclamation — except that it only draws more desperate people to the border.
So how about a deal: Republicans move left on health care, and Democrats move right on the border?
Because Beto’s oratory won’t solve the border problem any more than Trump’s tweets will pay your hospital bills.
