On Friday, the president suddenly flipped his immigration policy. Instead of trying to kick migrants out, he said he might just build them a yellow brick road to America’s sanctuary cities.

“We can give then an unlimited supply,” he said. “They say we have open arms, they’re always saying they have open arms, let’s see if they have open arms.”

Baffling! But just as baffling was the response from Democrats like Nancy Pelosi, who called the president’s remarks a notion “unworthy of the President of the United States and disrespectful of the challenges we face.”

California governor Gavin Newsom unloaded the thesaurus on him, calling the proposal “illegal, immoral, unethical, sophomoric.”

In a NPR interview, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, when asked if her sanctuary city would welcome thousands of new migrants, evaded the question. Eventually, host Scott Simon insisted on a clear answer.

“I haven’t heard a yes,” he pointed out.

“I said yes, Oakland welcomes all people,” Schaaf responded.

The reaction to all this on Fox News:

“Look at how the Democrats are squirming now,” said Fox News host Laura Ingraham, basically daring the Democrats to take the president’s offer.

Because she knows they won’t. But suppose they did. If the president is going to abandon his whole immigration policy, why not take the win? Say “okay, you send us those migrants, and we’ll turn them into workers, entrepreneurs, taxpayers and eventually, voters.”

And see what happens.

Ross: Are we killing car culture? Or is car culture killing the US?

I don’t think the question is whether we're going to "kill" our car culture. The real question is can we stop our car culture from killing the U.S.?
