A Kent man has been missing since Monday night when police say his truck was reported stolen in a carjacking.
Kent police responded to a carjacking at East Hill Storage at 10625 SE 240th Street just after 8 p.m. Officers say the suspect got inside the truck while it was stopped at the gate to the storage facility. The suspect fled the scene with the owner, 38-year-old Jared Sperling, still inside. Sperling has been missing since then.
KIRO 7 reports a resident at Cascades Homes in Kent found a body in an abandoned truck in the parking lot of the apartment complex. KIRO 7 learned it is the same truck — a white 2013 GMC Sierra pickup — involved in the carjacking at the storage facility.
Police have not confirmed the body is that of Sperling. Investigators are working to determine if the carjacking and body are related.
KIRO 7 reports investigators say they’ve identified two people of interest but do not have them in custody.
Anyone with information about the incident or the body is asked to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
