Video shows violent gas station robbery in Pierce County

Pierce County Sheriff’s detectives are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect who assaulted and shot a clerk while robbing a gas station in Midland.

The robbery happened at around 1 a.m. April 17 at a Union 76 gas station on Golden Given Road in the Midland area — east of Lakewood and near Parkland.

The suspect can be seen on publicly-released video from the store. He attacked the gas station clerk and struck him in the head with his gun. He then took money from the register while holding the gun on the clerk. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office says that the suspect then shot the clerk, which is not shown in the video. At one point the gunman left the store, but returned seconds later to take more money from the register.

Pierce County Sheriff’s Office says that the suspect appears to be male, black, in his 20s, about 200 pounds, and approximately 5’10” tall. He was seen wearing a black hooded jacket, black pants, and black boots. There is a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and charges for the suspect.
