A 1-year-old child was hit and killed by a car in Kirkland on Thursday.
Kirkland police said the child was struck in the Safeway parking lot at 10020 Northeast 137th Street.
Medics worked to save the child at the scene, but the child could not be revived.
Police said it appears that the driver simply did not see the child, but officers did not have further details.
#UPDATE: learned the child killed is a toddler boy, about 2-3 years old (not 1 y/o). He was nearby his parents at this #Safeway parking lot. 😢😢
