A rash of shootings and a stabbing hit Seattle through the weekend, starting with a Friday shooting in the city’s Central District neighborhood.

On Friday afternoon, a shooting at East 23rd Street and East Union Street injured two, and killed 19-year-old Royale Lexing.

“My poor baby was only 19. He didn’t even make it to 20 yet,” said Royale’s stepmother, Stanyetta Stroud. “We really got to stop the killing. Another innocent child shot dead in the street in the broad daylight and nobody knows anything. It’s just got to stop.”

Later on Friday night, a man was injured with a gunshot under his left arm in a separate shooting at the intersection of 46th Avenue South and South Eddy Street. At midnight, a second shooting occurred at the 2700 block of South Jackson Street, where police say one man was “struck multiple times,” before being rushed into surgery at Harborview Medical Center.

On Sunday evening, a man was reportedly stabbed in an unrelated assault in downtown Seattle near Pike Place Market. He was transported to Harborview in stable condition.

Around 4 a.m. Monday, Seattle Police were called to a Jack in the Box on University Way Northeast, where a 48-year-old man had walked in, covered in blood. According to police, he was shot in the shoulder. He was taken to Harborview and treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his shoulder.

Witnesses say they saw red vehicle speeding away shortly after the shooting took place.

As of publishing, suspects in all four shootings are currently at large. SPD noted in each case that its “gang unit and anti-crime teams will continue to conduct emphasis patrols in neighborhoods affected by gun violence.”
