A Dori sighting on Fox News

Thank you for being a voice for us. Saw you on Fox News this morning, way to go!

– Ellen on Camano Island

I saw you on a Fox segment. You must be the only non-liberal in Seattle! I have a couple of pals who live there, and I spent a wonderful week there years ago on an advertising shoot. Good luck to you and the Seahawks and all your other faves.

Dear Dori, it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it

Dori, it is with sadness that I write this note. I have decided to quit listening to your show. I have listened for so many years that I have lost count of them. I used to love your show, you had people call in, you had the one-on-one with the nuns. I would never listen to your show if you were gone, you were the only one I wanted to hear for three hours.

I have noticed your show has gotten very vitriolic. I have hesitated to make this drastic move, but have finally made my decision. You have so many good truths to say, but it’s the way you say them now that bothers me. You seem so angry all of the time. I was sitting here about two hours ago, wondering why I felt so much joy — I realized I hadn’t listened to your show today. There was no anger in me. You are the one who says we are responsible for ourselves, no one else; you are not responsible for my happiness, I am. I may listen on Tuesdays from 1:30 to 2 p.m., because I enjoy your dialogue with Dave Wyman. I will miss Ursula too! Goodbye, Dori.

Light rail will not be outdated and obsolete

Dori, I’ve been a faithful listener for over five years since I retired from a local aerospace company. I support and agree with about 95 percent of your rants, but you continue to go after the light rail system. I agree with you that it’s a corrupt system that continues to mislead the voting public, but several times over the last few weeks, you made the statement that the system will be obsolete after it has been built. I would like to take issue with you — here is an example of the light rail system taking cars off the road. I live in the SeaTac area and often take the light rail system to downtown Seattle. When UW is in session, both the Angle Lake and Tukwila stations are packed with riders heading north. The light rail cars themselves are packed (even standing room is filled). In order to find any parking at these two stations, you need to be parked before 7 a.m. on weekdays. From my experience, the light rail system is taking hundreds of cars off the road every workday.

You have made several comments that the self-driving cars will be the truly best answer to moving people. In my opinion, it’s going to be over five years before driverless cars will be allowed on highways. Traffic will be a total nightmare as drivers and self-driving cars will be on the road together for the first 10 years after their introduction. So you will experience the typical Seattle careless and thankless driver with road rage sharing the same road with driverless cars. I trust you can see the chaos. Take a close look at the traffic in New York City that is about 80 percent taxis — one can see the bedlam of all these traffic problems when you have so many cars in a limited space. Thanks for your time and keep up the good work.

P. S. You once asked for suggestions for Gov Inslee’s theme music — AC/DC, “Highway to Hell.”

– Bob in SeaTac

Irod suggestion

Hi Dori, I just thought about a solution if you had mixed reviews on this new addition to your show. Why not just whittle it down to one question that you chose from your listeners’ texts and voice mail? Just call it something like “Irod’s Question of the Week.” By the way, I never switch you off mid-show, even though I don’t always agree with you … but I don’t even agree 100 percent with my best friend. Keep up the good work!

– Steven in Oak Harbor

Don’t trust Eyman anymore

Tim Eyman was just on the air. He directed listeners to givethemnothing.com to support his latest cause. There is no such site. Instead, the address redirects you to permanentoffense.com, which appears to be nothing more than a solicitation site for money. Eyman’s words do not match his deeds, and I was left with a feeling that there’s a grifter about.

A kindred Ballard spirit

Hey Dori, it makes me sad to hear you talk about Ballard the way it is now. I remember Ballard from the ’70s, and you’re absolutely correct in your description of it. Almost every week my dad would take us to Alfie’s for pizza. If I remember right it was in the Ballard Building or close to it. Did you ever go there?

– Paul in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Left Seattle for the Grand Canyon State

Hello Dori, just wanted to say I moved to the Peoria, Arizona area a month ago and really love it. No news of drug issues, homelessness, or all of Seattle’s other problems (yeah, the list goes on and on). Born and raised in Seattle, it’s just not the Seattle I grew up in for the last 66 years. Not even close. Our West Seattle house sale closed and we’re done with those Kool-Aid-drinking politicians. Anyway, my purpose in this email is to ask you to get your broadcast on Sirius so I can keep up with the voice of reason — that’s you, Monson. (Oh, and traffic is way better here, too. What’s not to love?)
