7 Seahawks fans who define what it means to be a 12th Man

Sep 3, 2014, 2:56 PM | Updated: Sep 4, 2014, 12:52 pm

Mama Blue, known without her trademark blue wig, sparkly glasses, feather boa and fake eyelashes as Patti Hammond, moves pretty well for an 83-year-old. But the moving is hard to do because she is mobbed everywhere she goes. Mama Blue is the matriarch of the Seahawks superfans and has been a season ticket holder with her husband since year one.

Find out more about Mama Blue here. Last season, a die-hard Seahawks fan lawyered up in the midst of a fight with his homeowner's association. Dale Carlson did it in order to keep up his 12th Man flag and a Seahawks tribute that grew over the course of the 2013 season, despite the HOA's demands that he take the blue down. Mr. Love, (yes, his real name is Shannon Love,) dresses up the endzone at every Seahawks game with a suit and fedora. He has sat front row for every single home game for the past 38 years, with the exception of a game that he spent in the hospital, but fellow super fans placed a full-size "Mr. Love" cardboard cutout in his seat.

If you've ever watched a Seahawks game, you've seen and heard Lorin Sandretzky: He's 6'7 and bangs his two piece Sea-Fence sign in the front row of the end zone. He's the super fan known as "Big Lo" and hasn't missed a home game in 28 years.

Then he turned to a professional; he says it takes three hours to get painted by the professional. That means his game day starts at 3 a.m.

Debbie Gwaltney has been a lifelong Seahawks fan, so when it came time to re-side her home last summer, she had little doubt what color she would go with. The single mother of two grew up going to games with her grandparents, who had season tickets since the team joined the league. Debbie told MyNorthwest.com she was worried about the response from neighbors, but the enthusiasm was overwhelming. People stop to take pictures of her house and honk as they drive down the road.

Find more photos of Debbie's home here. Jeff and DeDe Schumaier are better known by their super fan names, Mr. & Mrs. Seahawk. They sit on the rail in the south endzone every game, dressed in their brightly-colored wigs, full Hawks uniforms and face paint.

Read their advice on how to handle a bye week here.

From their game day rituals to how they spread the Seahawks love, these 12s have gone above and beyond to spread team spirit.
