Soccer star Megan Rapinoe is back in Seattle after quite a while away (she’s been busy winning the FIFA Women’s World Cup). But it didn’t take long after her arrival in town for Seattle to show its love for the star soccer player.

Rapinoe attended a Seattle Storm game Friday night where she received an Emerald City welcome.

“Being back in Seattle is so lovely,” Rapinoe told KIRO Radio’s Matt Pitman. “Flying in last night, going over the city, seeing the Sound, and being able to sleep in my own bed … it was lovely today, a great reception.”

Mayor Jenny Durkan also showed up, sporting a new t-shirt stating “Rapinoe / Bird 2020” in reference to another Seattle all star, Sue Bird who plays for the Seattle Storm. Bird has won three WNBA championships and multiple Olympic gold medals.
