Police say suspect shot at officers, carjacked vehicle in Burien

Police are investigating a shooting in Burien.
The shooting was reported shortly before 4 p.m. in the 15800 block of First Ave. South.
The suspect was reported in police custody about 40 minutes later.
The King County Sheriff’s Office says the suspect fired at Normandy Park Police officers, who were confronting the suspect as part of an investigation. An officer returned fire. The suspect ran from the scene and carjacked a vehicle. He later crashed the car in the 15800 block of First Ave. where he barricaded himself inside.
KIRO 7 reports traffic around the scene was backed up for at least a mile, including an exit off State Route 509.

The King County Sheriff’s Office will conduct an OIS investigation at the request of the Normandy Park Police Department.
