The man who is perhaps the world’s biggest fan of ’80s band Duran Duran — Bellevue’s Durandy, AKA Andy Golub — stopped by the Dori Monson Show on Friday, the day before National Duran Duran Appreciation Day.
Throughout the entire day on Saturday in Seattle’s Tilikum Place, Duran Duran fans will gather to celebrate the band’s legacy.
Durandy will never forget the time that Dori got him front-row tickets to see his favorite band at the Washington State Fair in Puyallup. To this day, every time one of the band members has a birthday, Durandy sends Dori a pizza inside a pizza box decorated with photos of the musicians.
“My cup of appreciation for you and love for Duran overrunneth,” he said to Dori. “You don’t even know how heavy that is to carry around, so I’m trying to channel it. You deserve to be treated like a king for how you’ve embraced the Duran-demonium.”
Listen to the Dori Monson Show weekday afternoons from 12-3 p.m. on KIRO Radio, 97.3 FM. Subscribe to the podcast here.
