Seattle retakes status as the best city in the country for coffee drinkers

Last September, Seattle found itself dethroned by New York City as the country’s best city for coffee drinkers. Now, it appears as though it’s been redeemed, with Seattle retaking its stolen title.

What has happened to Seattle’s Tully’s Coffee?

The latest ranking comes from WalletHub, placing Seattle at the top of a list of 100 cities, sorted based on a variety of factors. That included the average price per pack of coffee, the average price of a cappuccino, the share of adult coffee drinkers, coffee shops per capita, and more.

Among those many factors, Seattle ranked second in coffee and tea manufacturers per capita, fourth in coffee shops per capita, and fourth in affordable coffee shops per capita.

Coming in behind Seattle by just two points in WalletHub’s ranking was New York City, followed by San Francisco, Portland, and Los Angeles. In the bottom three were Laredo, Texas, Greensboro, North Carolina, and Toledo, Ohio in 98th, 99th, and 100th respectively.

This latest list is even more redemptive for the Emerald City, given that Apartment Guide had Seattle ranked as the fourth best coffee city in the nation back in January, behind Berkley, California, Vancouver, Washington, and San Francisco.

So, drink up Seattle — we’re the best at coffee again, after a long year of looking up at New York and San Francisco.
