A school bus carrying a Shoreline high school basketball team and coaches rolled on SR 104 late Saturday.

The bus was carrying the King’s Schools boys basketball team, returning home from a game in Mt. Vernon.

The driver was exiting near Mountlake Terrace when she says her brakes didn’t work. The bus drifted into the shoulder and eventually rolled onto its left side.

All lanes of the road were blocked for several hours as crews responded to the scene.

Francis said in addition to the team there were three coaches and the driver aboard the bus.

Nine victims were reunited with family at the scene, according to Shoreline Fire. Another nine were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

After a preliminary investigation, Francis said bus equipment may have caused the crash.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
