Three teens shot at a party in Burlington Friday night are expected to survive.
Police were called about 10:30 p.m. to reports of gunshots in the 1200 block of East Rio Vista Avenue.
“Additional reports were that numerous people were seen fleeing the area of the party,” police said in a statement. “Officers from Burlington Police Department and surrounding agencies responded to the call.”
When officers were arriving, they were told an 18-year-old Burlington man had checked into United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley with a gunshot wound.
A short time later, officers received an additional report that a 16-year-old Mount Vernon boy had checked in to Skagit Valley Hospital with a gunshot wound,” the police statement said. “It was learned that both gunshot victims had been shot while attending the party in the 1200 block of East Rio Vista Avenue.”
Police initially said there were two shooting victims, but later identified a third victim, a 15-year-old Sedro-Woolley boy who went for treatment Saturday morning.
“At this point in the investigation it appears that there were a number of minors at the party and those involved in the shooting were known to party goers,” police said in a Saturday afternoon statement. “Detectives are still actively following leads to identify those directly involved.”
Police described all the victims’ injuries as non-life-threatening.
“At this time Burlington Detectives are still processing the crime scene, interviewing multiple witnesses and working to identify the persons involved in the shooting,” the police statement said. “This case is still under investigation and anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact Burlington Police Department at (360) 428-3211.”
