The Seattle Police Department believe the suspect in the fatal Aurora Avenue crash may have been high on methamphetamine, according to probable cause documents.

Two pedestrians were killed and two others were injured when the woman crashed her car Friday afternoon. One person died at the scene and a second died later at Harborview Medical Center.

Witnesses told police that the driver, a 23-year-old Brier woman, made a right turn off Aurora Avenue when she hit the pedestrians. The car then rolled into the northbound lanes of the road. The suspect reportedly got out of the car and hid in the bushes where she was found by police, witnesses said.

When the woman was arrested, officers noted that she was laughing and speaking nonsensically. Documents stated that her eyelids were droopy and her eyes were watery, and that one officer “suspected she was high.”

The woman also started to police that she crashed intentionally and her eyes were closed, documents say.

She was arrested on two counts of vehicular homicide, felony hit-and-run, and vehicular assault.
