The youngest victim of the fatal shooting in downtown Seattle left the hospital Friday afternoon.

Judah, 9, whose family has chosen not to release his last name, was in a wheelchair with his left leg wrapped in bandages when he was discharged.

He was shot outside the McDonald’s restaurant at Third Avenue and Pine Street just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

The bullet fractured the boy’s femur. Doctors pieced it back together like a puzzle, a family friend explained. He had surgery on Thursday morning and was up walking on Friday.

Judah was with his family and fellow Jehovah’s Witnesses at the Pacific Science Center on Wednesday. The group was walking to catch a ferry back to Port Orchard when they got caught in the shootout.

In all, eight people were shot, one of them fatally. On Friday, the woman who died was identified as 50-year-old Tanya Jackson. She was a longtime resident of Plymouth Housing and her close-knit community is grieving.

The most seriously injured survivor, a 55-year-old woman, also lives in Plymouth Housing. She is still hospitalized in intensive care, in serious condition. A 32-year-old man is in satisfactory condition.

Judah’s family said they are pleased with his recovery, and they left in an SUV for the drive back to Port Orchard. His family says he is eager to heal so he can go door to door and share his story and his faith.
