Many of the nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the Puget Sound region have been hit hard by COVID-19. For the past few weeks, residents have not been allowed to have visitors and, in many cases, they are not allowed to leave their rooms to minimize their risk of getting the virus.

Staff members have been working tirelessly under very stressful conditions. They’re trying to give the best care possible while also trying to protect themselves from getting the disease. They all need our love, support, and encouragement!

KIRO Radio’s Gee and Ursula Show is launching the “Letters of Hope Project.” We want your help sending letters to nursing home residents and staff. Below is a list of options. Simply pick one and send a kind, uplifting letter or card. If you’re looking for homeschooling ideas, get the kids to draw pictures, write a poem, or anything else to brighten their day. This will be a big morale boost for the residents and their caregivers who may feel disconnected from the rest of the world.

NOTE: The CDC, the World Health Organization, as well as the Surgeon General have indicated that there is currently no evidence that COVID-19 is being spread through the mail. Read the full statement from USPS.
